He's greater then when I knock myself upside the head for doing something totally stupid.
He's greater than I am when I excuse myself for fudging the truth.
He calls me to account when I fudge in my life, and he encourages me when I am harder on myself then I aught to be.
God simply is greater and it's good to be reminded of that. And that's what God did this morning with me. He reminded me of his greatness.
BUT let's not stop there, let's see what else God has to say in his passage.
By this... what does that mean? It's means we need to look back a bit... what do the previous verses say? Our love is shown by what we do....deed and action, not words only.
AND those actions reassure our heart before God. We act out of our love. God sees those actions and we're okay. He knows it all.
If we do what pleases God. Believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ. Love one another (in word and deed) Then we can know that we abide in God and that God himself abides in us. That's how we know.
That's how we have assurance of our salvation.
Oh... what a boon this passage is to my spirit today.
And I pray that it is a boon to your spirit as well.
Go well with God this day eh? :)
