I can't really say I got anything out of his devotional beyond the need to step out in freedom to show grace to someone else. And it's important to do so. and it does make the point of the verse.

Not to get locked up into only doing things our way, or not to be willing to bend to the needs of those around us.

It is NOT good and right to say "this is how we do things and ergo you must bend to what we want". How is that sort of attitude of benefit?
No, the Christian sometimes must get out of their comfort zone and reach beyond because we ARE free in Christ. We can do things that people don't think we aught to, but be alert...don't change just because you can, or you want to or some other stupid reason....embrace the freedom we have in Christ because in love we serve others.
