Since life was changed for us today with HOPE days being cancelled, we did some work in the basement cleaning out the cold cellar.
And yes, I changed it into a homeschooling time as well with learning about science (food spoilage), nature study (spiders and how it can adversely affect a person's reactions), chemistry (dad has bottles of homemade beer), math (how we organize, how many jars etc) and history (the process of canning, why people needed to do it etc).
Some explorers spent time with us. They marveled at all the places they could go to in their quest to find new places. They learned much about food storage and the need to be careful in new places (aka broken glass that go missed in the clean up) and how you need to be careful not to get stuck in places you can't get out of (dead centipedes in jars).
