This seems to be the "guiness world record" for our household at this point. I am planning at some point to try again without the lad constantly blowing on it or stomping on the floor to see if he can make it fall. The cats are a bit of a challenge as well as they are so curious and apt to get too close to the towers.
I bought some dominos at the rummage sale for 50 cents. A whole whack of them. We've been having some fun with them since then. One of the things we've been doing is to see how high of a tower we can make. With a lad being a silly beastie, I managed to get mine to 28. as I read stories, the lad got his to 42. and still later on, Dad got his to 46.

Headache (migraine) started yesterday continues to create some pain for me, so I didn't make it to church this morning. Had a boy who NEEDED to get out and do something so we went for a walk. We played Stargate at the park...we had fun, but then my head started to get the better of me again so we headed back home. I picked some leaves along the way and waxed them when we got home. I'll be writing that up on the homeschool blog, so head on over there if you want to read it. :) I decided that regardless of how I was feeling physically I had work that needed doing. SO I set out to accomplish it. This is what I did all by myself. :) I was starting to get a bit tired and really wanted to get the outside stuff done BEFORE it rained harder, so I called the lad out to help. Would have called hubby but his back is still hollering somewhat fiercely at him. What remains to be done yet..... I am SO not into decorating for Halloween (I do not do scary well)....but I do see the fun of it.
When I saw this pumpkin with the spider I thought...how much fun that would be for a lad who loves spider and all sorts of insects and small creeping critters to do? The lad is intrigued as long as NOTHING is permanently attached. :) Please note: my SOLE thinking regarding Hallowe'en is this: people can make it scary. BUT what it is for us in this family... free candy and meeting the neighbours. Can it be more? Yes. But it's JUST candy and meeting the neighbours. We do pray for the safety of the children out and about, and the God's will be done in our community. But we do not give power to Satan by letting him claim this holiday as all his own. It isn't his you know....it's all owned by God. Starting last week Jim is taking two weeks off work.
Last work he went camping with the guys. There are a bunch of camping guys that he gets together with every year around this time. They go some place. Eat lots of meat. Have lots of good conversation and basically just enjoy themselves. One year they helped Jim put a different sort of ...not sure what you call it.. it's the part that holds up the trailer at the front. They did this so he could put on stabilizers. Very nice of them to do so. This year was rather wet and cold for them and Jim came home with a sore back. That back has slowed him down this week a bit, he hasn't accomplished what he had hoped to do. Yesterday the lad and I took him out fishing. He enjoyed himself though he didn't catch a single thing. The lad and I fished for a while as well, but the lad got intrigued by a bunch of zebra mussels that he pulled in. After a while I got intrigued by what the lad was doing in his efforts to keep them alive. :) So while Jim fished, the lad and i looked at rocks. I collected some for painting on later as we study Canada. Not sure if we'll paint of them all or if we'll modge-podge pictures on to them or just what we'll do. It'll be interesting none-the-less. Today we plan to do something together as a family. I'm not entirely sure what yet, but we'll figure it out. Had HOPE days then brought the lad to gramma's.
On the way home I stopped and bought two bags of feed, some propane and some lawn bags. Got home. Had a bite to eat. Sounds like hard work eh??? Well....I was just stoking up for the work of the afternoon. Cleaned up the tarps from the old rabbit tent. Mowed the lawn front and back. Tidied up the yard. I don't have everything put away, but it is tidier. Cleaned up three cages...including bleaching them and rinsing a couple of times. Put the dirty rabbit bowls/bottles into bleach water. Tattooed a few rabbits. Moved a few rabbits. Printed off pedigrees to get my rabbit book up to date. Fed the rabbits so I have less to do tomorrow as I'm going off to a rabbit show. and now I'm off to bed. Cheerio! :) Jim's mom came over on Sunday for Thanksgiving. We had a good time overall. Good food, pleasant walk at McNaughton Park and what not. Yesterday I did our homeschool reading with the lad and the rest of the day was taken up with removing the old rabbit tent and putting up a new one. yes .. it is not a "Tent", it is a portable car garage, but I call it the "tent". The lad kept saying as we took down the old one...but MOM>> I like this one. But as soon as we got the new one up.. MOM! I like this one. I really like it on the inside. It's warm! It is a good deal warmer than the old tent, and I'll need to figure a way next year to keep it cooler in there OR not have any livestock in there at all. Today we did our homeschooling in the morning and then in the afternoon we pulled the ground cherry plants and tomatoes out of the garden. They've been put at the curb for pick up. Then the lad and I picked all the ground cherries up and we'll eat them as they ripen. I am hoping this afternoon to get out for a walk with the family, Not sure if that will happen though as hubby is feeling rather under the weather today. |
