Yesterday after finishing our homeschooling we went to the Western Fair. While there we had a great deal of fun. We go to the fair every year.
The lads went on rides.. lots of them. The funniest ride for the younger lad was bumper cars, and they went on that ride over and over and over again. The lad wasn't quite tall enough to reach the pedal so dad went with him to push the pedal but the lad did the steering, their looks of glee made waiting outside the ring worth it all.
Dad went on the "alien abduction ride" and some ride I couldn't even watch him on. Both were fun was the report, but the one I couldn't watch he said was "just wild". I don't much like rides so I just watched, though there was one ride I was actually intrigued by. It looked like a bunch of hang gliders. Just looked interesting, but not enough to buy tickets for. :)
We went to Little Ray's Rainforest Show.. This was quite an interesting show. We learned that chameleons don't change colour to adapt to their surrounding, but they use it to communicate with each other. They come in normal shades of brown and green, but when communicating with each other can flash a specific set of colours (such a black and yellow to tell another chameleon to keep their distance). The youngest lad touched a yellow python (17 feet long), had a scorpion walk over his hand (felt like a cross between armour and soft feet mom), and two different tarantulas. He tried hard to convince me to let me a tarantula run across my hand but I couldn't do it. I was for a very short period of time intrigued by the scorpion simply because I wanted to know what it felt like for myself, but I just couldn't do it. The lad told me this was his most favourite part of the Western Fair. :)
We didn't do as much wandering around of the exhibits today. Or watch a whole lot of the shows, it was just about having fun out with the lad. :) Jim and I had gone to the Western Fair on Monday as well where we wandered the booths, and looked around at the variety of things they had set up.
We did wander over to the animal barn to see what they had there. The booth for the Ilderton Fair was set up so I bought my annual three tickets worth to see if I'll win the beef. We saw goats, horses, bunnies, pot bellied pigs, donkeys, a various of barn yard fowl, and chickens. :)
