The lad has had his birthday. One of the things that happened on his birthday was he went bug hunting with a friend from our homeschool group. They caught cabbage moth, and two dragonflies. The cats unfortunately killed one, but the other is in perfect shape (though it sadly died). To celebrate the Lad's birthday we went to the Mitchell pool/splash pad. We had cake, the lad swam, and hunted bugs and we just had a good ole' time. In the evening, gramma came over for a relaxed supper and to open presents.
I should take the time to mention how I completely fooled our lad. He REALLY wanted a lego kit that had Wil Turner it in. We had found it at a couple of places with some price fluctuations. I told him that if I found it for a price I could afford I'd get it for him, but ONLY if I could find it cheaply enough. "ach, ok mommy." was his somewhat disheartened response. Went to Legoland in Kitchener and he saw it there as was SUPER excited. BUT did I let him know I bought it there? NOPE. Told him I bought was Gramma told me to and I bought an advent calendar for this coming Christmas. That was it. I kept the box hidden and told him I needed to check out the prices at Mastermind Toys.
Went to Mastermind Toys the following day where I found a bug book and some homeschool supplies. Told him he was not to look in the bags at all. I failed to mention he wasn't to touch them. he touched them and was VERY unhappy. "Mommy, they don't feel big enough". He was in tears and I quelled those tears by reminding him that sometimes, oh but sometimes, Mommy is sneaky.
My sneakiest paid off as you can tell in the above picture. Have you EVER seen such a big smile on a little lad? He kept screaming YES YES YES and Thank you mommy. It's been the major thing he's been playing with this week. :)

On Gramma's behalf, when I went to Legoland I picked up Aragog (the Spider from Harry Potter). So now the lad has two lego spiders and he is quite happy. Here he is playing with gramma. They were working on building Aragog but needed to take a break as it was quite complicated, so the bugs that one of the homeschool children gave him decided to play with the cannibals and Will Turner.
