Last week I put a cold frame up. I'm aware the doing this BEFORE spring might have been a good idea, but I didn't so we're working with the time we have. :) ANYWAYS... I needed to replace one of the beds (three actually). The wood on two of the beds was completely done so that's going to be burned, but the wood on one I thought hmm.. not is as bad of shape as I thought it would be...let's purpose it for a spell. So I propped it up using the agility poles I had for the dog (back when i had an agility dog). Laid the windows on top (from the neighbour) and voila! I had a cold frame up. :)
What I planted
- hot peppers
- tiny tim tomatoes
- Yellow plum tomatoes
- cauliflower
- cabbage
- 1 brussel sprout (yes, I had one seed left) rest of the row was heirloom cucumbers.
- Colourful beefsteak type tomatoes...come in various hues.
- Sunburst squash
- lemon cucumbers.
I am hopeful that they will come up well and if so, to sell the extras at my yard sale in June. :) I'll need bags or margarine containers to help with that. :)
An Update
The lad planted a maple tree and flower seeds from a plant called the Easter Egg Plant (it gets flowers shaped like Easter Eggs). These went in along the edge of the cold frame.
Many of our seeds are coming up nicely, this had the lad hopeful that we can sell a few things. :)
Close Ups of Cold Frame
I did some planting in the sideways garden as well.
I transplanted all the herbs, onions and chives over.
I have one leek, one sage, one thyme and one ??? (Chervil I think) plant.
One rosemary plant which I hope will come back.
some chives.
some travelling onions.
Transplanted over the parsley.
I planted the following
I gave away much of the onions, and one of the leeks. Where the leek was I put in some dill seeds.
I think I will need to replant the lettuce that I put in as it's not coming up at all.
