I greet thee whom my sure redeemer art
Come to the Saviour now
Come Holy Spirit, heavenly dove
Beneath the cross of Jesus
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine
Christ is made the sure foundation
So many Christians have no assurance of their faith....they see their sins and how they fall short, they don't see the fruit in their lives like they think they should.
There people who call themselves Christian who really should be examining their lives and who don't. God calls us to examine our lives. But this passage is not directed to the latter but to the former.
Love is action, it's how we treat each other. It's Jesus working through his people.
How to reassure your heart
- God is greater than our hearts
- God knows everything
- If our hearts do not condemn us, we can have confidence before God
- So if we live in faith, in word , in deed and in truth then we need not condemn ourselves
- If we ask of God, we will receive it
- Know you are of the truth
We have to be mindful not to fall into legalism.
Not fearing because we don't love enough.
Mind , if our hearts are rightly condemning us, we need to heed that and make it right.
This brings us to godly grief that leads to corrective action.
But when we are just grieving because our hearts are condemning us....then remember that God knows better. God knows it all full well. God is greater than what our hearts think. Nothing we do surprises God.
God calls us to repent. God doesn't condemn us. He merely calls us to repentance.
This is the assurance of our salvation, that God knows all about us, and sent his Son to die for us regardless.
Let this be your confidence...that God is your confidence. He cares and loves and knows and sent. This gives us confidence to come before him. Hebrews 4:16
We need to be thinking and praying how God's grace is working in our lives.
So we can't pray for what God says is wrong. So we can't put into importance things that really don't matter. The more we live in obedience to God the more the things of God matter to him.
Turn to God. Don't get lost in the emotions and fears of your heart. Heed God's call. Pray. Know he will hear you because of what his Son did for us.
Talk to him about what you think separates you from him.
