[15] Peace be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends, each by name.
(3 John 1:13-15 ESV)
That is how John finished this book of 3 John. Telling his friends that he has much he wants to talk to them about yet, but he wants to do so in person.
You know how that is right? How you want to talk to a person so badly, but you write what you have to but it just isn't enough?
John is so obviously as he writes, writing to people he genuinely cares about. So just writing, just talking with pen and paper isn't enough. He just wants to go and see them. This is his wish "I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face."
It's like me and some of my friends... they live so far away and I can write to them and all but it's not the same as talking. Granted, some things are easier to just write about, but sometimes I just want to be able to talk face to face with them.
But I can't do that. Finances simply don't allow for it.
So I write and we can talk that way. And I can send my fondest greetings and let them know I will pray for them. With that I must be content, but I still want to go see them.
That is how these closing verses of 3 John resonate with me. That desire to do the rest of our talking face to face. :)
OH! Before I leave today I must tell you readers about a bible link I didn't know about before. Legacy ESV. HA! It makes the copying of text much easier. It's quite nice. So I'm appreciative of my hubby for telling me of it.
I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face.
