(Mark 8:1-10 ESV)
Also a different situation. The crowd had been with them three days and were now hungry. Jesus brought the matter to the attention of the disciples telling them “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. [3] And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away.”
What were they to do? This is what the disciples wondered.
Jesus had compassion. Jesus fed the people.
He still does this you know.
He feeds us.
Sometimes it's a literal...here there's some food here now, food at your door left by some anonymous person, feed your family.
Sometimes it's a feeding of one's soul.
A good book read that reaches your heart when you didn't expect it to.
A passage of scripture timely brought to mind
A sermon that makes you realize that your searching means your salvation.
It's Jesus.
It's Jesus having compassion on us.
Knowing our need and reaching out to fulfill it even before we've spoken of it.
We don't see the words in this passage of people yipping at Jesus, saying "We're hungry, we're feeling faint, FEED US."
We just read of Jesus having compassion on the people gathered round about him. So he met their need.
What need do you suppose he'll meet in you today?
