[24] Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? [25] For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. [26] And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? [27] He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.”
(Mark 12:18-27 ESV)
BUT putting that aside.
Hold on...you know what I just noticed "And the Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection".... query.. if you don't believe in the resurrection why would you even ask a question based on the resurrection? That makes no sense at all.
Jesus is very clear in telling the Sadducees that they were wrong. He tells them they neither know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection .. marriage is of no never mind. It doesn't matter.
At the resurrection we will be like the angels in heaven.
God doesn't care about the dead...he cares about the living. The dead are gone, what they carried with them into the grave it's GONE.
So the marriage stuff? Totally unimportant to God at the resurrection. His people will be like angels. That's all that will matter.
And for those of us on earth.. worrying about the state of affairs for those dead.. it's of no never mind to us. The dead are dead..the living are here and to them we must pay attention.
