[11] And he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple. And when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
(Mark 11:1-11 ESV)
I just find it amazing that the people let the disciples take the donkey colt. All the disciples had to say was "the master has need of it and will return it". I wonder why that was. But it's really no never mind I guess. The disciples did as Jesus asked, and he fulfilled the prophecy from Isaiah that said he would enter Jerusalem riding on the back of a donkey.
But what did Jesus do?
He went into the temple. Gave it a good look around and retreated to Bethany for the night. It was late. Jerusalem would have been crowded with people there to celebrate the Passover.
Sometimes I wonder what the people thought? Were they disappointed that Jesus entered and then left? I wonder if some of them sat and waited around, wanting to be in on the excitement. I know that I can't know these things, i just wonder sometimes. For all I know they simply went to their beds chattering about their hopes and dreams for Jesus and the potential for change in the morning.
Jesus fulfilled prophecy.
Jesus showed his humility.
Jesus spent time with those he loved most before the hardest days of his life.
We should do the same YES?
