Matthew and Leviticus seemed to fit well together.
In Matthew I read:
Matthew 10:26-42Have No Fear 26 "So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. 27 What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
40 "Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. 41 The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. 42 And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward."
Leviticu3 10:8 And the LORD spoke to Aaron, saying, 9 "Drink no wine or strong drink, you or your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. 10 You are to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean, 11 and you are to teach the people of Israel all the statutes that the LORD has spoken to them by Moses."
The LORD God is a holy God and he does expect much from us you know. He doesn't expect us to go through life just not respecting him or his ways. He demands that we acknowledge who he is and he shows us how much he cares for us by how he expects others to treat us and how he cares for us.
To think.. that he knows how a sparrow dies (and how often do we truly considers sparrows? they are little birds that seem a dime a dozen. But God knows when they die and we are infinitely more important than sparrows.
There is so much here I need to ponder on today.. but God's love for us is so great and we can't truly comprehend it.
His Glory is so evident and we need to respect that. Just as Aaron lost his sons and needed to have it spelled out to him that being drunk on duty was unacceptable, so we need to consider how we are treating God as well. Do we treat him respectfully? Do we treat his workers with regard?
If not... what do you think such a person should expect from him???
I need to learn to see the differences, to be able to distinguish between the things of God, and the things not of God. The clean and the unclean, the holy and the NOT holy.
If I don't...how am I to appear before the Living Lord?
Oh.. that I might see the Lord as he truly is in all that I do and see.
